Nu välkomnar vi vår nya praktikant Shiva Soroushnia! Hon pluggar Turism och Hållbarhetsprogrammet på Linnéuniversitetet och kommer praktisera med oss till augusti, tillsammans med Annie Tsai. Även om hon mestadels kommer att jobba från Kalmar så hoppas vi på att ses i Stockholm snart. Det här är en mycket spännande tid hos oss och vi vill ge dom ett stort varmt välkomnande till Sveriges hembygdsförbund! 

Både Shiva och Annie är internationella studenter så de kommer att hjälpa oss med bland annat översättning, skriva artiklar på engelska och sommarkampanjen. Vi ville självklart ge er alla en ordentlig introduktion så vi ställde några frågor till Shiva.

Tell us a bit about yourself 

I am Shiva and come from Iran. My professional journey started when I began working with NGOs and sustainable development projects. These projects familiarized me with sustainable tourism as a means to improve people's livelihood and the environment and encouraged me to continue my study in this field. I am now studying for a master's degree at Linneaus University (Tourism and Sustainability) to deepen my understanding of sustainable tourism. 

I am also passionate about hiking, travelling, and exploring nature and various cultures. I love art and yoga, and they are two important parts of my life.

How did you end up as an intern at Sveriges hembygdsförbund?

I was lucky to meet Thuha Nguyen as a guest speaker in our class. She talked about Sveriges hembygdsförbund and the goals and projects they are pursuing. So, as I am interested in learning more about cultural tourism and community development in Sweden, I applied to be a part of this organization as an intern and I am so glad that I had the chance to have this experience.

What are you hoping to gain from this experience?

I would like to see how sustainable cultural tourism development is planned and implemented in Sweden and in a well-experienced organization like Sveriges hembygdsförbund and link my knowledge and studies to a real-world experience.

What's the best thing about living and studying in Sweden? 

For me, the Swedish people are the highlight of the period I am living here. Living with three Swedish roommates, meeting Swedish friends, and having my internship in a Swedish working environment illustrated how Swedes are kind and lovely people!
