The geographical area for Svenneby Hembygdsförening is the same as Svenneby district, which stretches from Gerlesborg by the Bottnafjord in the south to Tegelstrand and Slottet in the north by Slottefjorden and Skogby in the east. Heestrand is located south of the Castle and Tegelstrand.
Svenneby also includes the islands Kiddön, Hornö and Ulö / Dannemark. These islands were previously inhabited. Now only summer residents live
on Kiddön and Hornö. Ulö / Denmark is undeveloped and has been a nature reserve since 1983.
Until 1951, Svenneby was its own municipality. From 1952 to 1970 it belonged to Kville municipality and since 1971 to Tanum municipality.
In 2020, Svenneby had 604 inhabitants. This number increases significantly in the summer.
